The INPS sponsors an email discussion group that is accessible to anyone and everyone interested in native plants. Subscribers receive notices of native plant and environmental events, may participate in the discussions, and share information with the group, such as native plant photos, sightings, blogs, etc.

Becoming an INPS member does NOT automatically enroll you in the INPS email discussion group. For members and non-members wanting to join the email discussion group, please follow the steps below.

To subscribe send an email to: iowa-native-plants-request@list.uiowa.edu

If you have any trouble completing the enrollment process, please send an email to MJ Hatfield and she will enroll you directly.

Our INPS listserv is now being managed by MJ Hatfield, with Casey Kohrt serving as the official representative at the University of Iowa. The University of Iowa Information Technology Services hosts the Iowa-Native-Plants and the Iowa-Insects LISTSERV lists, and Lisa Schintler, Senior IT Support Consultant, has provided technical support for LISTSERV issues for many years

The INPS board wishes to express its thanks to Diana Horton for establishing and managing the listserv for many years, and to Lisa for her ongoing support. Thanks also to MJ and Casey for taking over its management. With all of their help, this tool is serving as a major communications link for INPS members and other plant lovers across the Upper Midwest.

Insect Discussion List

Are you also interested in insects? There is a listserv for that, too!

This list provides a forum for those interested in Iowa’s insects and, more generally, invertebrates, their identification, and ecology. Its purpose is to encourage novices who are trying to expand their knowledge about the incredible world of insects. The Iowa Insects Mailing List is an outgrowth of the Iowa Native Plants Mailing List as that list frequently receives posts pertaining to insects.

Subscribers should note that the list is open (anyone can subscribe), but only list members can post. Posts are not pre-approved; however, they should meet reasonable standards of courtesy and subscribers who violate this standard will be blocked from the list. Replies go to the sender, so you must add the list address if you wish your response to be posted to the list. Only list members can view the archives. If you need assistance, please contact the List Manager.

This List is managed by MJ Hatfield, and sponsored by the University of Iowa Department of Biology.
